Fairplay House
Year 5 and 6 Trip to Fairplay House: An Unforgettable Adventure
Recently, our Year 5 and 6 students embarked on an action-packed 2-night, 3-day adventure at Fairplay House, where they experienced a series of thrilling outdoor activities. They participated in caving, high ropes, the G3 swing, orienteering, and a night walk—each activity designed to stretch their limits and teach valuable life skills.
Overcoming personal fears was a major theme throughout their stay. In caving, students faced the challenge of navigating enclosed spaces, learning to remain calm and trust both their abilities and the support of their peers. The high ropes and G3 swing tested their courage with heights, while orienteering encouraged them to work independently and problem-solve in unfamiliar surroundings. The night walk was a final test of bravery and teamwork as they ventured into the dark, trusting each other to guide the way.
Despite the short stay, the trip was rich in personal growth. Children learned to support one another, fostered resilience, and developed essential teamwork skills. Our instructors were highly impressed, commenting on the students' maturity, enthusiasm, and respectful behaviour. Their cooperation, determination, and ability to face challenges with a positive attitude left a lasting impression.
This trip may have only been a few days, but it provided a lifetime of memories and growth. Our students returned more confident, more independent, and ready to tackle new challenges with the same spirit they displayed at Fairplay House.
Day 1
The children and adults arrived safely and were excited about the day ahead. They had a briefing with the instructors which included a fire drill, introduced the children to their rooms to unpack, explaining the outdoor tasks which needed to be done (making beds and tidying up after themselves).
This was then followed by lunch and then their first activity:
